The Art of Hair Color

Whether you’re enhancing your natural hair color, covering gray, adding subtle or extreme highlights, Trendz can customize your color to compliment your complexion and your personal needs.  Trendz uses only the best professional hair color offering you the utmost in coverage, selection, and longevity.

Hair color can be that amazing magic wand that instantly transforms dull mousy locks into glorious golden lights that shimmer and shine.  It can also instantly erase years of age by covering gray, adding depth to fading colors and cranking up overall shine.

Highlighting can add the illusion of depth, volume and texture to your hair. The process involves coloring some strands of your hair - making it lighter or darker, depending on your overall look (color of your skin, eyes, hair) and your desired look. Your highlights should compliment your natural color, not give it an odd contrast or contrived color. Highlighting is also a great way to start if you have doubts about coloring or dying your hair.

GO LIGHTER
Usually you go two or three shades lighter than your original hair color. Going beyond three shades will look extremely unnatural and peculiar.

CONSIDER LOWLIGHTS

You also have the option to have lowlights with your highlights which can give your hair more dimensions. Lowlights make your hair darker in shade. It will make the top of your hair look heavier than the bottom.

GETTING THE COLOR YOU WANT

The most important aspect of getting your Hair Stylist or Colorist to give you the color you want is COMMUNICATION.

How each person sees color is different. Therefore, the words we individually use to describe color vary from person to person.

For example, is a stick of butter yellow or cream colored?

The first and foremost point of getting your Hair Stylist or Colorist to know the exact hair color you want is to make certain you are both "seeing" the same color.

A PICTURE SPEAKS A THOUSAND WORDS.

Take pictures with you.  The pictures can be of anything, not just hair. You can take a picture of a glass of Iced Tea sitting in the sun, in order to convey the concept of Light Golden Brown. You can take a picture of a gemstone, such as a Tiger's Eye, to convey the colors you want in your highlights.

Pictures speak thousands and thousands of words when it comes to coloring hair.

Prior to beginning the hair coloring application you must know that you and your stylist are sharing the same vision, leaving no room for "interpretation."

We have provided different color combinations to help you make your choice.  We have also made it possible to print these pictures.

Please remember… just like hair… each printer is different.  If you are going to use these pictures… make sure that picture prints in the color you desire.

THE ART OF COLORING HAIR

Anyone can go to the local drugstore, purchase a box of hair color and apply it.   Unfortunately, “What you see isn’t always what you get.”  Nine out of ten times the actual results and the expected results (based on the beautiful color on the box) will be very different.

Coloring hair is a very technical art that requires ADDING and/or SUBTRACTING color from your existing hair color.  Everyone’s hair is different so using the same color formula on two different clients will probably result in two different colors.

The Art of Coloring Hair is totally dependent upon the knowledge the Stylist has regarding color, formulating color, foiling techniques, and placement.

Trendz takes great pride in their ability to
