Facial Waxing and Eyebrow Design

They say that the eyes are the windows to the soul... but the eyebrows are the dressing on those windows. Eyebrows are expressive of the human emotion, perhaps even more so than the eyes. As such, they have a significant impact on our appearance.

From creating fabulous eyebrows that frame your beautiful eyes to removing stray hair or peach fuzz from any other part of the face, waxing is a great and inexpensive solution for unwanted hair.

Many people overlook the importance of well-shaped eyebrows.
Well-groomed eyebrows are essential to creating a “pulled-together” look.   Balancing the rest of your face, bringing your best features into focus, and downplaying your flaws are some of the benefits of professional eyebrow design. Changing your brow shape can, in fact, change the way people perceive you.

Perfectly shaped eyebrows can do wonders to your face making your face look more defined and sharp. With perfect eyebrows you can not only look younger but you can also change the shape of your face.

Eyebrow shapes are always changing with fashion, from very full to thin brows and straight to a high arch.

Remember… eyebrows should be shaped based on the shape of your face and the natural growth line of your brows.

How Does Lip and Brow Waxing Work?

Waxing removes unwanted hair from the follicle. It can be applied very precisely so that brows can be shaped quickly rather than the long and tedious removal of each hair from tweezing. Because the hair is removed from the follicle instead of shaved off, the hair is soft as it grows back preventing any unwanted "stubble" feel.

Skin is cleaned to remove any skin oils or make-up. Hot wax is applied over the part of the eyebrow to be waxed; a strip of muslin or linen is applied over the wax and massaged into the wax. The skin around the brow is pulled taut, and the strip - with the hairs stuck to it - is ripped off quickly. Often, a thin dusting of powder is applied over the skin to get rid of stickiness. If any wax is left, the area is gone over with another strip to ensure that wax does not stay behind and plug the pores.

What Are Lip and Brow Waxing Treatments Like?

Lip and Brow treatments are relaxing, refreshing, and best of all: quick! You will sit back and relax as warm, thick wax is applied to the brows and/or lip area. Once the wax has cooled it is removed very quickly, and with it comes the unwanted hair. No harm is done to the skin.

Does It Hurt and What Can Go Wrong?

Waxing is a quick and easy treatment for unwanted hair and has virtually no side effects or potential risks. Waxing can hurt for a second as the cooled wax is removed, but the discomfort is minimal and doesn't last long. Some clients experience redness in the area treated, but this typically goes away in 15 minutes, though some people will remain a little pink for several hours.

What should I expect from Lip and Brow Waxing Treatment?

Lip and Brow Waxing treatments will leave your skin smooth and free of unwanted hair.  Most waxings last 3 to 6 weeks.

Can waxing cause ingrown hairs?

Rarely do fine facial hairs become ingrown. This is a problem more with bikini-line hairs, and sometimes the coarser hairs of the legs.

Does the hair grow back darker and coarser?

Hair does not grow back coarser, either from waxing or from shaving. Coarseness is determined by hormones, not depilation. It will grow back in its natural color. If hair has been bleached, by products or by sun, then it will, of course, grow back in its darker, natural color. But it cannot grow back any darker than that.

Can waxing cause skin to become rough?

As for waxing causing changes in skin or hair texture: both are more likely to be finer and softer as a result of waxing.

Must you wait for the hair to completely grow back again, before rewaxing?

You only need to let the hair grow back about 1/4"-3/8" before rewaxing, so that the wax will "grab" the hair.
